SCOPE
Superconducting and magnetic quantum materials are rapidly emerging as essential building blocks for next-generation quantum devices, spanning an increasingly wide range of applications. Following the success of the 1st European School on Superconductivity and Magnetism in Quantum Materials held in Valencia two years ago, this meeting aims to bring together both early-career and established researchers. In particular, it seeks to provide a supportive and stimulating environment in which young scientists can present and discuss their recent achievement.
The meeting will showcase cutting-edge advances in quantum materials, with a special emphasis on the synergies arising from the interplay between superconductivity and magnetism in both bulk compounds and engineered structures. This four-day, fully in-person event will include invited talks, contributed short presentations, and a poster session. A key objective is to encourage active participation, ensuring that all attendees have the opportunity to present their work. The meeting will take place in a relaxed and focused setting, fostering in-depth discussions and promoting networking opportunities among participants.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Density functional theory of quantum materials
- Advanced theoretical modelling
- Materials design and crystal growth
- Spintronics and magnonics
- Quantum criticality in superconductors
- Unconventional, topological, and high-field superconductivity
- Scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and other local probe techniques
VENUE
The meeting will be held within the premises of the Bom-Jesus site, see here. Organizers will provide details for hotel reservation by email.
Located in: Braga, Portugal
Address: Bom Jesus do Monte, 4715-056 Braga, Portugal
Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8DiLhKkvzEcm4uASA
Arrival Sunday 5th July late afternoon, departure Thursday 9th July afternoon. Further details will be provided in due course.
DETAILS FOR TRAVEL
Getting to the Venue from the Airport. The nearest international airport is Oporto Airport. Then, the most convenient option is to take a shuttle bus to Braga. Check for the most convenient bus line using the internet, see for example here.
From Braga to Bom Jesús: To reach the meeting site, you might take:
• taxi (approx. 10 minutes, please be aware that TAXIS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE in COST)
• local bus
PLEASE REMIND THAT LOCAL TRANSPORT (<100 km) SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE DAILY ALLOWANCE, as explained in COST annotated rules.
REGISTRATION
Please fill this form and then send your abstract, made using this template, to superqumap.info@uam.es. Participation is per invitation, after consideration of the abstract. Further details about COST support, hotel and full board arrangements will be communicated to participant shortly. Please DO NOT make any travel or accomodation arrangements until you receive the COST invitation. Participants will pre-pay hotel at a negotiated rate and full board, and be reimbursed later after every participant has sent the e-COST claim after the meeting has taken place. There is no registration fee.
A short version of the travel reimbursement rules with all required links is available here and here. Please make sure you read them carefully. Note that the maximum reimbursement of travel is set by the Management Committee of the Action and participants will be informed about this limit.
We remind that participants invited to a COST Action event can estimate the amount of daily allowance they could receive by accepting the invitation and by initiating the reimbursement claim using e-COST
It is fundamental that every new COST participant informs irene.gonzalezm@uam.es about the email used in their COST registration.
